Formula

Growth Rate = ((Current Revenue - Previous Revenue) ÷ Previous Revenue) × 100

What is Revenue Growth?

Revenue Growth Rate tracks the percentage increase or decrease in a company's revenue between two distinct time periods, usually analyzed month-over-month (MoM) or year-over-year (YoY).

How to calculate Revenue Growth

Subtract your previous period's revenue from your current period's revenue. Divide that difference by the previous period's revenue, and multiply by 100 to get the percentage.

Example calculation

If you made $40,000 in January and $48,000 in February: (($48,000 - $40,000) ÷ $40,000) × 100 = 20% Growth Rate.

Why Revenue Growth matters for SaaS

Growth rate validates market demand. Early-stage startups aim for aggressive MoM growth (10-20%) to show traction, whereas established companies focus on sustainable, compounding YoY growth.
